Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN in the role of anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. The first time she worked at ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins has been a bi-lingual since the age of nine years old. It was a helpful skills that helped her get her first position as a production assistant for Univision in Miami where she had an opportunity to work with producers of national shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. She was hired as reporter for an affiliate of the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. She moved in 2009 into Rio Grande Valley, Texas in order to be an anchor for the newscast of The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about immigration and drug trafficking both sides of the border with Mexico. She was the reporter for an evening newscast at 5. p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of anchoring the 9 p.m. news in English, and reporting for the 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. As an anchor, her duties for sports or weather were also frequently requested. Then she became the anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her greater responsibilities. Reporting on major events such as the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseason and the finals of FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of the Univision 23 local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she served as the anchor herself. She was the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. Also, she was anchor for sports on Primer Impacto, a magazine program that airs on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally origins from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved into Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. There is also a sister. In 1992, the family moved out of Mexico and moved to Miami. The couple divorced shortly after and her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. It was during a time of summer when she was with her sibling at Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl got the job. At the time of her senior year in high school, and having a clear vision of what she would like to accomplish with her life Antonietta was able to visit her local University of Mount Union to assess if it suited her goals. She discovered that she was a fan of the campus, and the university offered the program she desired. She completed her schooling and was admitted to the university as a major in media studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was participant in her class formed a strong relationship with the student. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her by his passion for journalism. Also, he deeply affected her.
